September 9 Care Group

We discussed the Sunday morning message called
"God Has Spoken - Breathed Out By God."

Key Verses:  2 Tim 3:16-17, Psalm 138:2, 2Peter 1:20-21

-We talked about what this means in our everyday lives.  It means that His word is our authority and gives us the guidelines to live our lives.
-His word is the engine, our feelings are the caboose.
-The common cultural saying "Follow your heart" and "Do what feels right" are horrible ways of making decisions and living life.
-Our measuring line is the word of God, nothing else.
-Scriptures inspire us to obey God, be encouraged, and give Him glory.
-We can always check what we are taught with the word of God, that's a safeguard for us.

June 3 Care Group

We discussed the Sunday sermons from Romans 6: 6, 14 - We have been crucified with Christ...sin will have no dominion over you.

-When we are tempted it's time to cry out to God for the grace to resist.  It's frustrating to find ourselves in a battle, but that doesn't mean we are enslaved.  It means that we have to make a choice!
-The fact that we even think to cry out to God is evidence of His life working in us and proof that we can present ourselves to God.
-It's a humble act of obedience to pick our cross and consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God.
-We must know who we are in God, consider what He's done for us, choose His way and keep presenting ourselves to God!

May 6 Care Group

Our text for the evening was Romans 5: 9-11.  Here are the ideas we discussed:
-Heb 7:25
-His ongoing life guarantees our salvation, we are on our way to heaven, recipients of his grace, saved from the wrath of God!
-Now we always have light and hope even in extreme trials.  In hell there will be NO hope, NO mercy.
-We are hidden with Christ in God - Col 3:3  Lord, Hide me under the shadow of your wings.
-We are reconciled to God by His death.  Because of His death we will glorify God as He lives in us.  It is a process - that life working in us and saving us from temptations, trouble, sin...
-We rejoice = delight, enjoy, more than anything else
-Jesus, in his glory, is caring about the details of our lives and paying attention to us, answering our prayers.
-We can get side-tracked and think we have to take care of ourselves.  We must remember to keep looking to Him and asking for grace and help.
-Sometimes a lack of joy can stop us from enjoying his salvation and from giving joy back to God.
-We are sorrowful yet always rejoicing!
-Our real identity is who God made us to be.  Our prayer is "Lord, bring out your nature in me."
-We look forward to being with Him and that wonderful day when we will see Him and be changed into His likeness.
